What will you study

The study branch of Silviculture is oriented to directing the forest structure with the aim of optimal fulfilling the production and other forest functions which are of benefit to the public. The branch of study is aimed at observing and testing regularities working in forest ecosystems of various tree species structures with the aim of their use for increasing ecological stability by means of scientific methods and optimal fulfilling their functions. By its philosophy, the proposal of the study programme for the 3rd degree of Silviculture and Forest Protection study comes out of the study branch of Silviculture.

Application

The obtained knowledge and skills enable the graduates to solve the most important, general and also specific problems of forest ecosystems management of the Slovak Republic and other countries of Europe. The emphasis is placed on problem-oriented approaches, various solving and experimental testing the working hypotheses. The graduates of this PhD study programme can work especially in science and research as well as in the civil service of forest management or nature protection all over Europe. The graduates are sufficiently creative and independent; the obtained knowledge enable them to participate in international project teams. They can also work in managerial positions in forestry and environmental enterprise practice.
